New faces abound as Javier Aguirre names his first squad as Egypt manager, ahead of the Pharaohs’ Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Niger.
Among the notable names left out are Al Ahly’s Ahmed Fathi and Saad Samir, both stalwarts under previous manager Hector Cuper.
The squad is younger than past iterations as well, with exciting young forward Salah Mohsen and wingers Eslam Gaber and Mohamed Sadek included.
Egypt hosts Niger on Sept. 8 and will look to earn the first points of their 2019 AFCON qualifying campaign, having lost their first match in Tunisia.
