FIFA will give a $2 million advance on bonuses for African nations at the 2018 World Cup, according to CAF (Confederation of African Football).

World football’s governing body is looking to avoid the embarrassing moments of past World Cups, which saw turmoil for some African teams due to unpaid bonuses.

CAF President Ahmad Ahmad said past incidents “badly affected the image of African football, with a considerable impact on team performances.”

This means Egypt, Morocco, Nigeria, Senegal, and Tunisia all get a jump on bonus money, “to settle the question of bonuses due to players beforehand,” according to Ahmad.
