Former Egypt FA President Samir Zaher passed away on Tuesday at the age of 75.
Zaher took the reigns of Egyptian football’s governing body during a spell of consistent underachieving.
Zaher will be remembered as one of the most celebrated Egypt FA officials of all-time.
Under his leadership, Egypt’s national team won an unprecedented three Africa Cup of Nations titles in a row, and came closest to its first World Cup appearance since 1990 in 2010.
The exact cause of his death was not immediately disclosed, but he was said to have been battling a lengthy illness.
