Congo has named a 31-man squad to face Egypt in next month’s crunch World Cup qualifier in Alexandria.
Though the Red Devils have officially been eliminated, the squad packs a healthy dose of European-based players that earned an unlikely away draw against Ghana earlier this month.
The team will be without the services of Club Africain striker Fabrice Ondama due to injury.
The draw in Kumasi comprised Congo’s sole point in Group E, and was followed by a 5-1 thrashing at home against Ghana.
Egypt needs to win the Oct. 8 match to keep its 2018 FIFA World Cup destiny in its own hands.
A victory could be enough to secure the Pharaohs’ place in Russia if Ghana get a result in Uganda.
