Egypt and Ahly midfielder Abdalla El-Said says the Pharaohs are focused on Thursday’s match, and Thursday’s match only.
“Right now our focus is just on Thursday’s [qualifier against Uganda]. After that we can worry about what’s next,” said the 32-year-old in a television interview on Monday.
Egypt takes on Uganda in back-to-back 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, starting with Thursday’s tussle in Kampala.
The two meet again Sept. 5 in Alexandria.
“These two matches in quick succession, five days apart, are two of the most important matches we’ll play this year,” El-Said said.
“It’s an important match for everyone; this generation of players, the fans, and the Egyptian people as a whole,” he added.
The team closes camp on Tuesday before setting off for the Ugandan capital.
