Al-Taawoun winger Mostafa Fathi has been ruled out of Egypt’s upcoming World Cup qualifier against Uganda, according to team officials.
Fathi suffered an injury to his left knee in training a few days ago, but the team held out hope he’d recover in time for the match.
However, team physicians have officially ruled him out of the crunch showdown, set for this Thursday in Kampala.
Meanwhile defender Mahmoud Ezzat, who was called up to replace injured Zamalek centerback Ali Gabr, is recovering following a knock that put him in doubt for game as well.
The Pharaohs continue their training camp Monday in Alexandria and should see the arrival of their European-based contingent.
The team will leave for Kampala on Tuesday.
