Uganda has named a 27-man squad for the crucial 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying double against Egypt.
Manager Moses Basena’s squad is a mix of those plying their trade outside of the country and the domestic-based players that recently beat Rwanda to qualify for CHAN 2018, Africa’s international tournament comprising just locally-based players.
“We faced a tough test to qualify for CHAN 2018 tournament. This alone was great preparation for the matches coming up against Egypt,” Basena said in a press conference announcing the squad.
“We believe we shall achieve. Uganda is ready to face any team on the African continent,” he added.
The Cranes and Pharaohs square-off on Aug. 31 in Kampala, before playing again in Alexandria on Sept. 5.
Uganda are second in Group E on four points, two behind leaders Egypt.
