Ghana’s Muntari: We Can Still Qualify For World Cup

Sulley Muntari

Star Ghana midfielder Sulley Muntari says the Black Stars can still reach the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

The 32-year-old was interviewed on Ghanaian station GHOne TV, where he discussed the team’s tough start to World Cup qualifying Group E, which also comprises Egypt, Uganda, and Congo.

“The Black Stars can still make it to the World Cup,” he said.

“In 2006 we lost our first game, drew our second, and won the rest to qualify for the World Cup.”

Ghana has just one point from it’s first two matches, after opening their campaign with a scoreless home draw against Uganda and a loss in Egypt.

However, the team’s next two matches are against last-place Congo and two wins would instantly put the Black Stars back in contention.

Ghana also hosts group-leaders Egypt on the final day of qualifying.

The Pharaohs last qualifier in Ghana ended in a humiliating 6-1 defeat in 2013.
