Ahmed Hegazi’s reported move to West Bromwich Albion is now official.
Hegazi heads to the English Premier League side on a season-long loan from Cairo Giants Al Ahly, with an option to trigger the deal into a permanent transfer.
“We’re delighted to add Ahmed to the squad. He caught our eye at the African championships and we’ve been tracking him ever since,” Chairman John Williams said of the 26-year-old to West Brom’s official site.
“We’re pleased he’s here, he’s a good addition. He’s got good pedigree and has played for some good clubs. Hopefully he’ll be a good signing for us,” manager Tony Pulis said of the former Fiorentina centerback.
“With it being a loan and, if he does well, we’ve already agreed a final deal. It’s really, really good for us,” he added.
Hegazi, who has 39 caps for Egypt’s national team, is already in Hong Kong as part of West Brom’s preseason preparations.
