The date and kickoff time for Egypt’s crucial 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier in Uganda has been changed.
The match will now take place on Thursday, Aug. 31 at 4 PM local time (3 PM in Egypt). It was previously scheduled for Sunday, August 27.
The Pharaohs, looking to secure their first World Cup finals berth since 1990, could use three vital road points against an upstart Ugandan side perhaps playing its best football ever.
Egypt leads the group on six points, but will undoubtedly have Uganda (four points) and Ghana (one point) breathing down their neck. Congo languishes in last place with no points.
It’s worth noting that the two will square-off again five days later in Egypt. The date, time, and venue for that clash remains unchanged; Sep. 5 at 8 PM local time in Alexandria’s Borg El Arab Stadium.
